The Gamma Kappa Chapter of Tri Delta highly regards academics and views it as a cornerstone to our success as an organization. For the past two consecutive years, both our semester and cumulative chapter GPAs have been the highest of any Greek organization on campus. The ladies of our chapter have worked tirelessly to achieve individual and group academic success and we are very proud of our status on Wake Forest University’s campus.
Our chapter encourages academic success in several ways. For example, each week a sister who has shown tremendous academic dedication is recognized and awarded the Diligent Dolphin Award in our chapter meeting. In addition, we book study rooms in the ZSR library every week in order to encourage our members to not only study, but also to study together. This helps facilitate academic accountability as well as create an environment for bonding between members of different pledge classes. Furthermore, our chapter has started an Internal Major Networking system where our underclassmen in our chapter are individually paired with upperclassmen who share similar major, minor and career interests and aspirations. Those who meet regularly with their pair are recognized and awarded in our weekly chapter meetings. Additionally, our Professional Development Chair, Laura Jennings, has helped create a Tri Delta Alumni page on LinkedIn and encouraged members to reach out to connections outside of our currently active members. She ensures that our members are ready to take our academic success beyond campus and embrace the world after Wake Forest.
Yet our chapter recognizes that our individual and sorority achievement is due, in part, to the dedication of our wonderful professors. Their commitment to our members’ intellectual growth and development help push us to become leaders both inside and outside of the classroom. Each year, the chapter declares one professor from each department an “Apple Pie Professor" - to show our gratitude and appreciation for all that they do, we sent each professor a certificate and an apple pie.
As Gamma Kappa prepares for a new academic year, the ladies of our chapter are ready to once again demonstrate our strong commitment to academic success. Our chapter has maintained the highest GPA of any Greek Organization on campus for two years now and we are not planning of letting go of that title anytime soon.
